Roles in film distribution

Film distribution can be split into many parts for example for independent film makers such as Blair witch and find me they would make the film and take it to film festivals such as the sun dance film festival and Venice this allows the films to either show a teaser trailer or maybe the

completed product and then distribution company's may chose to buy the rights to distribute the films and this allows the film to be sold with out these company's the films would most likely never be released. So company's who do this are lions-gate films studio or film four which was chosen to be find me's distributor due to their history of funding low budget British films such as 'this is England' also film4 and the UK film council work together to fund British films such as 'Tormented'

The big boys of film distribution can be universal, Warner bros. 20th cent. fox ext. These would have films contracted before production for example many blockbusters such as spiderman avatar, batman. Some company's may have a partnership with production company's for example Disney distribute all of pixars films this allows the production team to get funding wi

th out asking around and allows Disney to make huge piles of money from distribution not only of the film but merchant dice something Disney have exploited from very early on.
