Gender Representation In Horror films

Many published studies or opinions that the females that survive lose their femininity in a forlorn hope of surviving the ordeal that has taken their femininity and replaced it with masculine traits, such as aggression. these traits are always present in the slasher films the smart girl how becomes aggressive and kills the killer(Sarah Trencansky 2001 writes that the girls needs to "recognize the horror surrounding her and eventually fights back against the attacker".

the horror genre views the sexually of women as a bad thing for example the female who is involved in the act will usually die during or after, whilst the non tempter female will survive the the killer. " a girl who prefers sex to other obligations and be a means of demise".

The killers are usually mental victims or bullied and sexually deviant males because nearly all slasher films the killer is a male, this reinforces the idea that women start off as the weaker of the genders and especially is they a sexually disassociated like in Halloween the main character is not interested in sex and is the one being preyed on by the killer because they are the weakest.
